Windproof membrane
Non-flammable wind protection of building walls is main function of NG classification membranes in the ventilated facade system. Is's use helps to reduce heat loss, which reduces heating costs and increases energy efficiency of building.
Wind load
Expressed in occurrence of longitudinal and transverse air filtration, which are subdivided into infiltration (from outside to inside the room) and exfiltration (from inside the room to outside). A high-quality and correctly mounted non-combustible windproof membrane eliminates their unwanted effects, while maintaining the heat-shielding properties of structure.
SP-23-101-2004 (clause 12, table 17, note 2) - resistance to air permeability of mineral wool should be taken equal to zero, regardless of the insulation layer thickness.
Purpose
Neutralizes negative effects of wind currents entering through and emerging under the enclosing structures.
Advantages
windproof membrane prevents air filtration and thus helps to preserve heat-shielding properties of building
prevents air filtration, enhancing thermal performance of the system
separates cold outer zone from inner warm one
acts as a barrier to atmospheric precipitation

According to TsNIIPROMZDANI of Moscow calculations - without installing a non-combustible windproof membrane, thermal insulation properties of insulation are reduced by 4 times.
FibraIsol NG
Vapor-permeable fiberglass membrane used in the installation of pitched roofs and ventilation facades as windproof layer. It prevents destruction of thermal insulation and effectively protects it from effects of wind and atmospheric precipitation.

Negative consequences of not using windbreak membranes
Electro-depot Varshavskoe, Moscow
Failure to carry out facing work on facade resulted in destruction of the insulation due to water and wind.
Residential complex, Moscow
Mistakes made during installation of ventilated facade system led to the moistening of mineral wool, weathered fibers and further changes of thermal insulation layer structure.
Renovation of residential building on Biryulevskaya street, Moscow
Due to loose joints of facing materials, rain falling into the gaps between panels moistened the mineral slabs. After that, mineral slabs began to be destroyed by formed in the hinged ventilation facade air currents .
Presence of a non-flammable windproof membrane mounted on top of the insulation, as part of facade or roof, is a factor that determines durability, safety and efficiency of entire system. In its absence, impact of wind and water destroys its structure, leading to irreversible consequences and additional costs.
